September '23 Promo - Sports, Denim and Portraits

I’m trying to do my best to not jump into a tirade about dental insurance and how much of a scam it is in the US. Long story short I’m writing this from Bucharest, Romania with a mouthfeel that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. That being said I’ve made more progress here in a week that I could’ve in New York in months and at a fraction of the cost. Apparently medical tourism is a real thing and I’m living proof. But enough about oral misdemeanors and lets jump into it. I have a new video, a campaign and new personal project I’m about to share with you. So go ahead - scroll like you never scrolled before!

Starter SP23

This one was a lot of fun to do. We had over 20 locations to shoot in one day & we made it through with flying colors. Shout out to Lexie for being an absolute champion for putting it together, AD-ing and producing at the same time. Seriously she’s a beast and I can’t stress enough how much I love working with her.

I decided to shoot it on my very old, very capricious Mamiya RZ PRO II. She’s so capricious I named her Patricia. She has a reputation as every tech’s worst nightmare. It’s a modular system retrofitted to take a digital back on top of the standard film back. When it breaks there’s 50 things minimum you have to check. All that aside the images that it produces are unparalleled in my opinion. Keep in mind she’s over 30 years old. I think she liked the crew because she only acted out a handful of times, nothing serious enough to affect our schedule.

I was especially excited about being able to hire my friends to help on this one. Shout out to Paul, John and Dallin for having my back! You guys rock! The whole crew was amazing to the point one of the talents told me after the shoot she felt like we were like a big happy family. That’s the highest praise in my book!

Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans

Behold a new social video I did for Gloria Vanderbilt Denim. The brief asked to showcase new denim styles with an accent on stretch and comfortability. Happy they gave me pretty much free reign to do whatever I wanted which translated into experimenting with a few new toys and editing tricks. This also meant losing myself in a plethora of buttons, modes, switches and gadgets. Totally cool - I put on a brave face and soldiered on. I know the edit is long but bare with me - this is more about showcasing my “mad skills” less about selling jeans. I mean that’s why you’d hire me, right? RIGHT?! Also I was able to add a banger of a track if you go check it out on my insta reels. Apparently it slaps. No cap. On god. [insert more gen z talk here].

Gab’s

I’m super excited to share this new project. It’s special for a ton of reasons but most notably it’s special because of Gabby . I’ve known her for more years than I’d like to remember just because it makes me feel old. We both worked at Hudson Studios which was essentially my second home. I liked her instantly because she is very passionate about two things that speak volumes - restaurants (bars mostly for me) and art. I like to brag that I have her first black and white painting proudly displayed in my living room/kitchen (I live in West Village - single use rooms are a foreign concept). A year ago I saw that she was opening a restaurant, a life long dream of hers. And wouldn’t ya know it it’s right across the street from where I live. Talk about convenience! The food is delicious and the drinks are top notch! Obviously I became a regular. And obviously I wanted to do some portraits so we came up with this concept - favorite item/portrait. Hope you enjoy these and go to Gab’s !

Many thanks to Pierce Bartman (new to the city - hire them) for holding the umbrella and remembering which glass of water is mine and Lora Vasserman for making these pics look a lot more flattering!

That’s it. That’s all the updates. September should find me back in NYC getting into trouble hunting clients, trying to get more gigs, sipping negronis & hatching plans to take over the world. Thanks for hanging in there - I know this one was a long one. Kudos for the above average attention span.

Pat yourself on the back. You deserve it!
